A feast for the eyes

Vipiteno is exactly the right place for everyone who likes to be active on holiday and for whom art, culture and enjoyment should not be neglected. The medieval small town convinces with an incomparable flair. The twelve tower, the symbol of the city, separates the north from the old town with its rows of town houses with characteristic “oriels” and arcades.
The alpine shopping town of Vipiteno is the second oldest town in South Tyrol and was known as a trading town for hundreds of years.

Named after the famous trading family Fugger, Vipiteno is still referred to as the Fugger town.

In the center you will find countless opportunities for shopping, relaxing and strolling. Those interested in culture will enjoy the Gothic churches, medieval castles and museums.

Sports enthusiasts will find a varied program in Vipiteno and the surrounding area.

Culture

If you stroll through the city center of Vipiteno, immerse yourself in a medieval world and discover numerous cultural treasures. The 46 meter high Twelve Tower is the symbol of the city and can be visited in summer during the lantern parties or during the Christmas market. In the courtyard of the town hall there are still relics from Roman times: a Roman milestone and a copy of the Mithras stone. Our namesake Nepomuk adorns the city center. The white marble statue depicts the saint patron saint of bridges and water hazards. Numerous churches with beautiful fresco paintings, museums and castles should not be missing from the cultural program in Vipiteno. These include: the Multscher-Museum and Museum in the center, a visit to the parish church of Maria in Moos and the Church of the Holy Ghost on the town square. A visit to the medieval castle of Reifenstein and a trip to the Ridnaun valley to the mine are definitely worthwhile.
